Sustainable engagement

In january 2017, the french federation signed the charter "15 commitments for eco-friendly sports events" at the Sport Ministy. This way, the Yonex French Open settle itself among great sports events organised in France such as Roland Garros, the Tour de France or Paris 2024 bid comitee.

Organizing an ecofriendly tournament as become a real goal for the french federation. Among the different themes to focus on : food and responsible supply, waste recycling, low consumption of energy and water, sustainable transports, men and women equalit, solidarity and more...

The various actions are summarized in the charter of our commitments, including: a strong desire to integrate CSR criteria "Corporate Social Responsibility" into the selection of service providers and suppliers, the ambition to reduce our waste production before and during the event as much as possible, promote public transport, create a dynamic and a legacy around the event (training line judge, presidents' day, student memory award ceremony, etc.), to value volunteer commitment, etc.

Shuttlecock recycling stand

In the Badminton Village, the shuttlecocks turn into little characters!

Come and let your creativity speak on our recycling stand: for a moment between two matches, create animals of all kinds and leave with your own creation!

You too can get involved! A few actions:

Restoration
Buy only what you want to consume at the snack bar.
The goal is to fight against food waste by limiting your leftovers (drinks, meals).

Transport
Although the best European and Asian players come by plane, choose to come on foot, by bike, by public transport or by train.
Otherwise, opt for the carpooling solution or come in a friendly way to 35 badists on a bus (with federal help).

Reduce our waste production
A few simple steps to move towards a zero-waste event: Remember to bring your club bottles or eco-cups, participate in sorting (plastic bottles, cans) with many points installed in the stadium. A "green team" will be at your disposal to accompany you and give you the right sorting instructions.

Solidarity
As every year, come and bring back your rackets in good condition, your children’s shoes up to size 39 or even your plastic ruffles and nets. A donation for the Solibad association.

Our sustainable development partner

The Yonex Internationaux de France are proud to support Solibad: Badminton Sans Frontières, an association that mobilizes the badminton community around humanitarian projects in France and around the world. For more than 15 years, Solibad has demonstrated that sport can be a powerful vector of solidarity by funding educational, social and humanitarian programs to benefit children and populations in vulnerable situations.

On the occasion of this event, we wish to highlight this initiative and offer spectators, partners and actors of the event the opportunity to contribute to this dynamic solidarity. Because a major sporting event is not limited to performance on the field, it can also generate a positive impact beyond the competition, by uniting an entire community around the values of sharing, commitment and mutual aid.
