Tough competition for the double categories at the 2026 French Open

Current number one in the rankings, the Korean duo KIM Won Ho / SEO Seung Jae has already won three titles this season with the Malaysia Open, a Super 1000 tournament, the England Open and the Asian Championships. Having recently finished 3rd at the World Championships and last year’s French Open winners, they seem more than ever in a position to keep their crown! 

Facing them, the pair Fajar ALFIAN / Muhammad Shohibul FIKRI (no. 2, Indonesia) represents a serious threat. They turned a corner this year with the victories at the Japan Open and the China Open. Despite a final lost at the French Open 2025, they will inevitably have the ambition to go for first place this time! 

For their part, the new Indonesian pair Leo Rolly CARNANDO / Daniel MARTHIN could well be the underdogs to watch... With their two titles this season at the Taipei Open and the Thailand Masters, they will be keen to show great fighting spirit. Eliminated from the start last year alongside his former partner Bagas MAULANA (No. 30, Indonesia), Leo Rolly CARNANDO has a perfect opportunity to get even on this Super 750 tournament. 

On the women’s side, the pair LIU Sheng Shu / TAN Ning (no. 1, China) will be among the duos to watch closely. They had an exceptional start to the season. Victorious of three Super 1000 (Open of Malaysia, Open of England and Open of China) this year, finalists of the last World Championships in New Delhi and installed at the top of the world ranking, they have all the arguments to aim for a new coronation! 

The defending champions of Yonex IFB, Yuki FUKUSHIMA / Mayu MATSUMOTO (no. 3), will also be highly anticipated. Already victorious at the Indonesia Open, a Super 1000, this season, the Japanese pair know perfectly the French Open after their demonstration last year, concluded by a final long of 1h35 won in 3 sets against the Chinese duo LI Yi Jing / LUO Xu Min.  

The latter are precisely determined to get their revenge. Crowned Asian champions this season against their compatriots LIU Sheng Shu / TAN Ning (No. 1, China), they also won bronze at the last World Championships. They will do everything to win the title in the Île-de-France region at this edition. 

The mixed doubles could offer one of the most competitive tables in the tournament. 

The tricolores Thom GICQUEL/ Delphine DELRUE (no. 4) will give everything in front of her home crowd, and for good reason, they are now world champions, a historic title won in New Delhi against the world number 1 Chinese FENG Yan Zhe/ HUANG Dong Ping. The tricolor duo had already sent a strong message by beating Mathias CHRISTIANSEN / Alexandra BØJE (n°2, Denmark) at the last China Open. After being eliminated in the quarter-finals at French Open 2025 against this same Danish pair, they will be determined to get their revenge in October! 

The Danish duo Mathias CHRISTIANSEN / Alexandra BØJE (no. 2) remains a key candidate. He has experience in major events and comes with an ideal preparation thanks to their recent participation in the Super 750 and Super 1000 tournaments. 

As for the Chinese pair FENG Yan Zhe / HUANG Dong Ping (no. 1), it will also be a watch-dog. With titles at the last China Masters, at the Malaysia Open and a final at the China Open, world number ones display an impressive form, with a final achieved at the World Championships. At the top of the world rankings, they are among the duos capable of directly aiming for the title. 

With so many confirmed champions and pairs in full progression, the doubles tables of the French Open 2026 are set to be particularly high. Every match could become a highlight to watch!
