3 QUESTIONS TO ALEX LANIER

The French Badminton Federation met Alex LANIER, 2026 winner of the Singapore Open in men’s singles, to answer a few questions. He looked back at his last victory in the Super 750, his expectations for the Yonex French Open and how he is preparing them.

Alex, you recently won the final against Loh Kean Yew at the Singapore Open. What did this victory mean for you?

«It was quite special for me! Winning a second 750 was important. Especially since it was Singapore, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with a huge audience. Winning against LOH KEAN YEW, who was at home in the final, was a very strong moment for me, I’m happy to have won and to have experienced these emotions in Singapore!”

The Yonex French Open are approaching. What mindset do you have for this meeting at home?

«I am rather impatient, I will try to take a lot of pleasure. To come, to be at home, to enjoy the moment as much as possible and to do my best!
It’s also important to try not to put too much pressure on yourself and to have a lot of fun, playing with the audience and taking pleasure together.”

What aspects of your game do you work on the most?

«Right now, we’re working a lot on consistency, really putting everything together, trying to develop as many tools as possible but also building a very complete game, it takes time.

I think we’re on the right track, try to broaden my panel a bit and try new things!”

Building on his recent successes, the Frenchman will tackle tournaments around the world this season to prepare for the French International of Badminton.
If you want to meet the best players in the world, the event will take place from 20 to 25 October at the Arena Grand Paris in Tremblay-en-France (93).
