MD - Second round - Surprises never stop !

LEE Jhe-Huei/YANG Po-Hsuan, the black-horse pair from Chinese Taipei challenged their Korean rivals

These Taiwanese players would definitely like to go further on their way to the highest podium. 21 /13 first game ended pretty easily following the pouring jump smashes from the Taiwanese players. Nevertheless, the Koreans did not lose their patience and kept the game going: 21/15, the second game was a pretty revenge from the Koreans , 21/15, the World Number 18 pair froze the ranking for this match : 21/14, two sets in a row, the Koreans to the quarter finals.

Takuro HOKI/Yugo KOBAYASHI showed no mercy to their courageous Scottish challengers

This Japanese pair dethroned the minions last year and took over the Number One chair on Men’s Doubles, their quick follow-up shots and their ninja like speed didn’t really leave their opponents much time to think, 21/12 for the first set was relatively easy , the newly crowned kept their game pace steady while the Scottish prominent pair played faster and more powerful. These challengers did gain some more precious points towards their upper handed Asian opponents: 21/16, see you tomorrow for more exciting matches, HOKI and KOBAYASHI !

An Eurasian clash between LANE/ VENDY and ALFIAN/ ARDIANTO

This English pair was certainly not intimidated by their Indonesian opponents. One win on each side, world 13 against world 6, the data was close enough to make any presumption about this match. The English needed more time to bring out their top game level. 21/16 for the first game won by the number 5. The second one was a turning point for both sides. LANE/ VENDY managed to stay unshakable facing the Indonesians’ bombing attacks. 23/21 ! Deep breath for the English but here started the final game. Another surprise for the day : the English spared no effort for the final game and they won the game 21/15. English in, Indonesians out.

LIU/OU Seeked to battle LU/YANG out of their path in round 1

Chinese national top players LIU/OU were brought to their first head-to-head match with LU/YANG from Chinese Taipei. This match was by far the most nerve racking from today’s French Open. The Taiwanese pair used their outstanding counter attack time after time to fend off all the powerful smashes. A tough opening game: 24/22 for LU/YANG. Their faultless strategy worked

well until the last point of this match. The Chinese could not break through their solid defense, 21/16, another place for the quarter finals was taken away by the Taiwanese.

Furthermore , Satwiksairaj RANKIREDDY/ Chirag SHETTY (IND)[7] eliminated their Malaysian adversaries MAN Wei Chong/ Kai Wun TEE :21/16 , 21/14 for the Indians.
