WS - First Round - Denmark Open finalists in great form

The finalists of the Danish Open HE Bing Jiao (No. 8, China) and CHEN Yu Fei (No. 3, China) both reached the next round. As for the favorites, TAI Tzu Ying (n°2, Taiwan) and Ratchanok INTANON (n°7, Thailand) have also validated their ticket for the last 16. The European Mia BLICHFELDT as well.

Chinese “full house”

We wondered how HE Bing Jiao had recovered from her long week of competition in Odense. She had finally triumphed over her compatriot CHEN Yufei to win the 2022 Danish Open.  The answer was quick and even expeditious. The winner of the Danish Open was much too strong and too fast for Line Hojmark KJAERSFELDT (n°22 Denmark): 21/8 21/13 for 38 minutes of play. She will meet another Danish player in the next round. Indeed, earlier in the day, Mia BLICHFELDT (n°17, Denmark) qualified at the expense of Iris WANG (n°24 USA) 21/18 21/17. A relief for the Dane who had not passed the first round of the last 6 tournaments in which she participated.

On the other side, CHEN Yu Fei took even less time (36 minutes) to defeat YEO Jia Min (n°20, Singapore). The Tokyo Olympic Champion won in 2 sets 21/13 21/16.

Since last week, we only had two days to recover from Denmark. Physically, I’m tired but mentally it is even more tiring. For today, I was not fast enough compared to my opponent, but I managed to win this one." “I’m taking one match at a time. The most important for me is to do my best. I play for the country, and bring glory for China” She told the press.

She will challenge Busanan ONGBAMRUNGPHAN (n°11, Thaïland) who had difficulty in defeating PAI Yu Po (TPE) 12/21 21/8 21/13.

No worries for the top seeds

The 2022 Denmark Open semifinalist from Thailand Ratchanok INTANON who is also World Number 6 defeated in straight games the Japanese Aya OHORI (n°31). A close game match at first where she kept the lead. Very impressive performance in the second game. Final score: 21/19 21/6. She will face Supanida KATETHONG from Thailand (n°26) who prevail over the Dane Line CHRSTOPHERSEN (n°18), 21/17 21/15

Same scenario for TAI Tzu Ying (Taipei) who faced her compatriot, Wen Chi HSU. A first set mastered 21/13 and a second in the same line 21/17. She confided in the press conference that she was "happy to have won and to recover her confidence, especially with her right leg injury from last week. And also happy to have done the work in two sets to spend as little energy as possible on court.”
