WD - Day 4 : 8 pairs but only 4 can see the light of tomorrow …

Quarter finals are never easy. They have tried so hard to come here. But only four tickets will be handed out for the semi-finals tomorrow at the stadium Pierre de Coubertin.

Yuki FUKUSHIMA / Arisa HIGASHINO (JAP)  vs JongkolphanKITITHARAKUL/Rawinda PRAJONGJAI(THA)[3]

21/16, The Thai sisters / The Japanese powerful pair was not  ready  for the …   regardless of the young age of their duo, Arisa and Yuki very quickly form a solid  women double duo.  Arisa’s jump smashs and Yuki’s  stable front net control can always get them out of trouble, this time included.  Their Thai challengers obviously came prepared, but it was sadly not enough to down the Japanese ladies. 21/19, first semi final ticket went to Japan.

 

Chloe BIRCH/ Lauren SMITH (ENG)[6]  vs Nami MATSUYAMA/Chiharu SHIDA (JPN) [4]

English treasure pair Birch and Smith got some trouble against the Number 4 seed in Paris . 14/21 ,first game lost to the Japanese,  Birch and Smith managed to get a second game 21/18. However, the third game was a likely one-way for the Nihon team. 21/10, the English pair stopped their French Open journey this year.  “We managed to get our second round , but they really played well today. We  still have a lot of upcoming tournaments for us, we will keep being confident for the future games.”Chloe Birch shared her thought with us after the match.

 

Siti Fadia Silva RAMADHANTI/Ribka SUGIARTO (INA) vs KIM Soyeong/ KONG Heeyong (KOR) [2]

The energetic pair from South Korea immediately took the spectators into the ambiance. Kong never hesitates when it comes to attack, as her strong shield, King was there to defend their territory.  19/19, time froze at that moment.  Kong finally helped her duo take the first set with her outstanding net control. 21/19. The first game was not easy, the Koreans decided to put more energy into their second one. 21/14. The young Indonesian pair may need more time to outscore their rivals. Result of this match: King/kong join their national team mates Lee/Shin in tomorrow’s semi finals.

 

LEE Sohee/SHIN Seungchan(KOR)[1] vs Gabriela STOEVA/ Stefani STOEVA (BUL) [5]

Fans know it all .. This was their 9th time playing against  each other. 6:2  head-to-head record, the Koreans seem to hold a better score for their previous matches.  Number 1 seed for this year’s  French Open obviously didn’t want much talk. 21/13,21/9. The shortest battle time between these two courageous pairs. “Of course we have a lot more tournaments to attend, but first, we need to take some time to  think how to play better for our next times. The Koreans really got what they wanted today: they managed to  separate us and let us play lonely game. ” Said the two Bulgarian sisters after the match.  Lee and Shin walk safely through next round tomorrow.
