WD - Day 2 : 10 countries sent out their best players. Direction : Paris

Which one is your favorite pair ? Fukushima and Higashino from Japan? The koreans Lee and Shin ? Local players Tran and Lambert ? Or the Thai pair Supajirakul and Taerattanachai ? Stay tuned, more news about the 2nd day of French Open is coming.

Yuki FUKUSHIMA/ Arisa HIGASHINO (JPN) vs  Benyapa AIMSAARD/ Juntakam AIMSAAR (THA)

21-18, 21-11. It is by far not a coincidence for these two powerful Japanese players to form a double women pair.  Being challenged by the young Thai sisters, Fukushima and Higashino managed to hold their strong mind and got through the next round.

 

LEE Sohee /SHIN Seungchan(KOR) vs ASHWINI Ponnappa / READDY N. Sikki (IND)

These two groups  has just run into each other during the Denmark Open. One week later, they were ready to put up another hard fight. Number 1 seed pair from South Korea is well known for the strong smashes .They prouved us one more time their  game level. 21/16,21/17. The koreans are safe for now.

 

Margot LAMBERT /Anne TRAN(FRA) vs  Chloe BIRCH/Lauren SMITH(ENG)

The crowd was waiting for their home players . The French Duo Lambert and Tran made their first entrance in this year’s French Open.   Both Birch and Smith are known for their strong smashes. The French pair kept their score relatively close with only 5 points behind  the English pair : 21/16. But It’s not their best performance today. 21/12, with the last sharp service from their English rivals, Les bleus ended their French Open journey and Birch/Smith will join other English players in the next round.

 

Puttia SUPAJIRAKUL/Sapsiree TAERATTANACHAI (THA) vs KIM Soyeong / KONG Heeyong (KOR)

One day, two matches for Taerattanachai from Thailand.  The Koreans hold world number 5 title and have a reputation for being resistant in term of defending. Supajirakul’s  high jump smashes did not seem to impress them much. The King/Kong sisters  got their first win  21/18 .However, the Thai found another way to revenge. 21/12.  This match was meant to get into the final round. For the 3rd set, the Thai could not keep up with their opponents. 21/10

 

The audience was meant to be satisfied by the match menu of the day :  Kate FROST /Moya RYAN(IRL) / Siti Fadia Silva RAMADHANTI/Ribka SUGIARTO(INA) 21/11, 21/13. The Indonisians safe to their next round . Johanna MANGNUSSON /Clara NISTAD(SWE) vs CHANG Ching Hui /LEE Chih Chen( TPE) 21/19 22/20, 21/19. Chinese Taipei players won the first game, but lost their two next ones ..

  LEE Meng Yean/YAP Cheng Wen(Mas)  beat their opponents Mariia STOLIARENKOt /Yelyzaveta ZHARKA(UKR) 21/12, 2117 .  More matches : Jakkampudi MEGHANA / Poorvisha S RAM(IND) vs  Alyssa TIRTOSENTONO/ Imke  VAN Der AAR(NED). Their fans could be a bit disappointed since the Indian Pair retired from the game at 11/4..    English players  Jessica HOPTON and Jessica PUGH lost to  Pearly TAN and her Malay fellow Thinaah MURALITHARAN ( 23/21 21/10) . To end today’s women double games,  Linda EFLER/ Isabel LOHAU( GER) lost to  Nami MATSUYAMA/ Chiharu SHIDA( JAP)  21/15  21/12.
