Round 2 - WD : No surprises with the favorites

Today, women’s doubles matches didn’t keep any suspense going. The favorites achieved good performances.

The first French players to enter the court were Emilie Lefel and Anne Tran. They were facing the Japanese pair Matsumoto/Nagahara. Even if they were helped by the French crowd and dozens of kids cheering on them, it was not enough and they lost 21-11 21-11. But Anne explained « We were too stressed out and couldn’t turn the support we received to our advantage. We’ll come back stronger next year and hopefully with better results. » They need to keep working on some aspects of their game as she specified : « They were stronger on turning points but we always learn from our mistakes and this is always a good experience. »

The Japanese pair Tanaka/Yomemoto (number 6 seed) faced the pair Efler/Herttrich from Germany ranked 30th. The first half was in favor of the Germans but the japanese finally took the advantage 21-15. A similar scenario happened in the second set but with a tighter score of 21-17.

In one of the last matches of the day, Fukushima/Hirota (number 1 seed) easily qualified themselves 21-11 21-12 beating the Chineses Huang/Huang.
