Round 2 - MD : Great battles for the european pairs
The men's doubles draw is mostly known to be really spectacular in everyway. It has been confirmed after the first m"danish vs. China" battle of the day, opposing the danish pair ASTRUP/RASMUSSEN and the Chinese pair HE/TAN.
After winning the first game really close 24-22, the Danes let their opponent from China raised their game a little bit. After 70min of match, the pair from China took victory over the Europeans (24-22 21-18 21-17). “They played really well. I think we played a little bit too slow”, said the danes.
Same thing for the other Danish pair. Boe and Mogensen, the 2016 French Open champions didn’t have many successes today. The former world no1 were defeated by the number 3 seed, a pair from China (LUI/ZHANG). They couldn’t deal with the aggressiveness of their opponents. Final score : 21-11 21-15.
Tough 1st round for the world no 1
The Indonesian pair GIDEON/SUKAMULJO also makes its entrance for its first match at the French Open. All time favourite, they showed an amazing level of game. However, they lost the first game and gave some confidence to their opponents. They apparently took some time to get into their match completely. But they rapidly raised their level of game to finally prevail over their opponents. Final score : 18-21 21-12 21-14.
