All England : Juhl/Pedersen finally

2018 Yonex All England is over. This year's edition granted us with extraordinary finals and Europe took hits part of Victory thanks to Danish Rytter Julh and Pedersen

Denmark facing Asia

 

With the elimination of some of Europe best chances for a title in Brimingham, all the hope remained on the shoulders of Danish Rytter Julh/Pedersen and Boe/Mogensen pairs.

Facing Japanese Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota, Kamilla Rytter Julh and Christinna Pedersen won their first title in Biringham, one they have been hoping to reach for a long time. After 1 hour match (21/19 21/18), the two danish players could let out their joy : “I have goosebumps again,” said Rytter Juhl “It’s so special for the players and ourselves included so to stand here with the trophy with so many big names on it, it’s just a special feeling.”.

Their teammates Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen were not so lucky. They were opposed to world seeded number 1 Gideon/Sukamuljo for their 8th confrontation and lost 21/18 21/17.

Shi Yuqi – Lin Dan : time for a change ?

 

Men single's final was a two generations fight between Chinese Lin Dan (34 yo) and Shi Yuqi (22 yo), who was lookng for his first title in Birmingham, 12 month after his lost final against Lee Chong Wei. But to do so, he had to win over Lin Dan, the one with 6 victories in England, still hungry for a 7th crown. And he did brilliantly, after 1h15 game 21/19 16/21 21/9.

 

Tai Tzu Ying impressive

She did gave us a terrific show in Paris last october. World number 1 tai Tzu Ying did it again in Brimingham and show the world of her mastery. Akane Yamaguchi tried to oppose her in the final but she was too strong and prevailed 22/20 21/13 to win her second trophy at the All England.

 

The surprise Watanabe/Higashino

Yuta Watanabe et Arisa Higashino became on Sunday the first Japanese mixed pair to win a title in England. After some great performances which secured a spot for the final, the 48th world ranked mixed pair defeated Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong (5) 15/21 22/20 21/16).
